21st January 2014

I've been having random splurges of busy-ness over the last few months, which has knocked me out of habit of keeping up with the internet.
But I've been trying to fit art in amongst it all. So here are a couple of images that are in the process of being coloured now.
Enjoy

October MCM London Comic Con

It's been a hectic year, probably somewhat evident by the lack of posts, but I've just arrived home from the Comic Con in London.
Currently the rain is coming down quite heavily, but I have dried off and have a cup of tea, ready to catch up on some sleep and enjoy being indoors in the warm whilst the storm sets in here in South England.

The weekend has been absolutely exhausting, but great fun despite train engineering disruptions. Definitely the busiest Expo so far, but great to meet so many people. Thanks to everyone who stopped by and I hope those of you who bought comics or artwork are enjoying your purchases.

Thanks also to all the people who offered help over the weekend, as it was the first time I was manning the stall alone. Thankfully you kept me fed and watered :)

Hope everyone gets some well earned rest x

May 2013 Roundup

It's probably apparent from the fact that my last blog post wasn't since the last MCM Expo in London, and the latest one has just taken place, that I've been somewhat busy this year.
But since this month has involved two art events I should do a quick recap.

The first bank holiday weekend of the month saw me at the Japanorama event at the National Space Centre in Leicester. This was the first Japanorama event to run there and I was asked to appear as a guest artist and do a couple of talks about my work and inspiration alongside several other great artists. I also had a table selling art prints and comics and got to meet a lot of new people. It was a great event with a really friendly atmosphere, so I look forward to it's hopeful return next year.
Below is a picture of my table at the event:

This weekend was the MCM Expo in London where I had a table in the Comic Village. The weekend was extremely busy, but a lot of fun. It was great to meet so many new people, as well as seeing a lot of familiar faces. Luckily it was another bank holiday today so I got to rest up today in the (brief) British sunshine.

29th October '12

I'm back from London Comic Con MCM Expo. I had an awesome time, but am absolutely exhausted now. Thanks to everyone who stopped by the stall, it was great meeting everyone. I think it's time for me to sleep now though and hopefully post something longer later in the week.

Butterflies' Rest

First completed full size illustration in about three and a half months.
Very happy with the outcome though, so I think it was worth the wait to finish it.
I had a lot of fun with this piece. Especially the ivy and fungus on the tree.

Original is alcohol based marker, watercolour ink and watersoluble pencil on 15" x 11" watercolour paper.

Garnet Colour - WIP

This evening I've been trying to rescue this piece. Watercolour paints are deceptively very different to watercolour ink that I usually use. Luckily one of the things I love about traditional media is the how you cope with mistakes. I guess it somewhat compensates for my inability to test new techniques before diving into them.

Forest Clearing - WIP

I've not had much time recently to work on any personal art, but I've been able to snatch the odd hour here and there to work on this piece.
Still a long way to go.
