20th December '10
If you're not aware the UK is under snow. Lots of snow. This makes me cold. And somewhat disrupts British transport.
Hopefully I will make it home for Christmas.
First I have to get through the next 3 days of work.
I am very looking forward to 2 weeks off, but having to make sure everything is in working order for while I'm away. Work hard me!

2nd December '10
Friday tomorrow where I get to hope that the trains are all running so that I can get home for the weekend :)
Then I should be going ice skating on Saturday, which I again hope it's not too cold... or there's a blizzard... and I can enjoy winter stuff pleasantly.
Have another sketch. I'm much more comfortable drawing girls. Men are so difficult to draw :S
Also I may get a Tumblr account just to keep up to date with this :) kimjongillookingatthings

Happy December! I am not a great fan of snow or the cold, but it can be very pretty.
I am starting to accumulate a considerable stack of sketches. Perhaps I should think about finishing some of them

I saw the Coca Cola Truck down Oxford Street, and went to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park and tomorrow is the first day of December. And it snowed!
It is freezing though and hopefully British people will stop being startled by snow and unable to make trains run properly... well hopefully at least when I want to use them :)
Have some non-Xmassy fish

1 month until Christmas!
I am going to be super excited about the holiday season, and then probably complain about the cold and weather afterwards, so enjoy my cheerful spirit.
I think there's some definite anxiety towards my latest traditional piece, so I've been taking a break from it in the hopes of not completely destroying it :)
So here's some digital paintover rubbish that I did from an old traditional piece.
One day I'll learn to paint properly, but until then it's odd plasticy colours.
Think I'll try some more sketching this weekend

I had that type of art block this evening where you know what you want to draw, but you can't put it down on paper. Also I think I'm scared of inking my current large piece in case I suddenly realise I need to change something as soon as the ink hits the paper (usually the way). But I guess I'll have to take the plunge sooner or later.
I'm thinking of maybe learning to paint... or relearning, or trying to learn more. I'm not sure though. New things are scary. but good scary.
I did spend this evening scribbling in a new sketchbook (since I managed to tip water on my last one and warp all the pages I'm smart me :))
So anyways, here's something I started a while back and haven't gotten round to completing yet... just something to play with watercolours/waterbased inks more.

Going to be trying some more neutral colours on this.
Already noticed something I want to change though, right after I inked it ;___; At times like this I wonder if I should learn how to paint instead

Large scale scribbles. It's A2 size which is why it looks rather bad right now as I scanned it in pieces and ont at great quality.

Finished. Had some problems with the inks either soaking unevenly into the paper or sitting on top of each other instead of blending. but in the end it's turned out ok :)
Original is alcohol based ink and coloured pencil on A4 bristol board

Drew some more leaves over the weekend. Still needs the lopsidedness fixing though.
It is a very busy week. I am looking forward to the extra hour of sleep on Saturday/Sunday... but the weekend is still so far away

Looking a bit yellow at the moment. Also having a bit of trouble with some of the inks :S maybe time for nibs to be cleaned. Where does one buy pure ethanol...?

I nearly completed the line-art for this over the weekend, but got dragged into playing quite a bit of multi-player Civ.
Went to the nice art shop and bought some new paper and pencil refills (that I don't *really* need right now) but I did get a shiny new pencil sharpener for 25p. Bargain!

Finally complete. It took a lot longer than I'd thought/hoped colouring this, but it's done now... so I can get on with other stuff I guess :)

So I managed to get a cold, which kept me off work for the rest of last week. I had fuzzy head for a whole week though, which wasn't particularly fun when I have a steady flow of stuff to get done at work right now :)
Also means I have been super slow doing personal work. So this is still only 85% complete :(
I have a half a dozen other sketches from this past week though, but we'll see which of them end up as fully finished piece

21st September '10
Right now my head feels like a cold is starting to burrow into it, so despite the fact I am mid colouring this piece I will have to stop and sleep. So here is the lineart instead.
I do not want to be ill right now. Too much work to do.
Today I got the copy/paste custom attribute values between files in 3dS Max to work, which was cool for me as I can now copy poses in their entirety for custom rigs.
I did, however, realise I'm probably going to have to make a new scripted pose library for storing poses on IKed rigs so that I can apply the pose relative to the overall location in space.
I'm sure that's very un-exciting to anyone who isn't me.

Bit of a sketch in between me inking one of my earlier drawings. Don't really like the proportions though so not gone far with it

Drawing something smaller than usual. I have several other larger works on the go also. Anything to take my eyes of the PC screen.

I hate having to match the colours of a scanned image to the original. Somehow it's never right and you end up butchering something :S

Busy with work. Not much time to draw. But managed a little bit of colouring in.

In the meantime have some linework

Windows 7 is my new enemy.
Bought some new PC components. Windows 7 wouldn't install.
Took the a hard drive and Windows 7 over to friend who had almost identical motherboard... Installed Windows 7... yay!
after a very busy day at work I come home and try to install graphics drivers on a now working PC... Windows does not want to log in any more... not yay ;____;
Roll back the drivers :(
So I decided to scribble some colours in one of the few bits of working software before sleep.

Exciting stuff!

It wouldn't be completely stupid to think that after a day of rigging and skinning I might want to not do that once I got home from work.
But no not entirely. Finally dragging some old rig stuff into Maya to try and work on getti8ng an animation showreel together, since most of the work I do is technical based and most of the actual hand animating I've done over the past year is pretty much can't show work :S
So let's see if I can just do some animating for fun.
Yeah there are way too many bones in this to be a good game rig XD Although if you ignore the hair it's not so bad. But why worry about bone count when for once I don't have to.
Would also like to replace spine with better control and solving.
Some joint positions not quite correct.
Hopefully develope some mel tools for streamlining the process

Some doodley stuff. Playing with inks. I have lots of bottles of lovely colours on my desk. Although I should move them out of the light... and so that I can move my mouse.

For most people digital colouring is probably faster... not me... still working away at this piece.
Hopefully I'll remember to pick up the new ink tomorrow and bring it home

I realised I haven't uploaded any new art this year. Well this piece was completed a few weeks ago. The original is just smaller than A1 size and is inks on bristol board.
